Jewellery Restoration: Bringing Your Pieces Back to Life

Restoration is about more than just repairing damage, it’s about honouring the history of a piece while ensuring it can be worn and enjoyed for years to come.

At Meaden Master Jewellers, we treat every restoration project with care and precision, ensuring that your jewellery is not only wearable but also cherished for generations to come.

This month, we had the privilege of being able to restore this ring back to life. The claws were significantly worn down, and the setting required a complete rebuild to restore its strength and security. The heavily worn claws could no longer hold the diamond safely in place, making restoration essential.

Take a look at the still images below to see the process of restoring this ring and bringing it back to life in our workshop.

Every restoration project is unique, but here are some of the most common services we provide:

Stone Replacement & Resetting

Missing or loose stones are a common issue with older jewellery. We carefully match lost gemstones with high-quality replacements and secure them in their settings to prevent future loss.

Re-Tipping & Rebuilding Prongs

Prongs that hold gemstones in place can wear down over time, putting precious stones at risk of falling out. Re-tipping or rebuilding prongs strengthens the setting, ensuring the stone stays secure.

Polishing & Cleaning

Over the years, jewellery can become scratched, tarnished, or covered in dirt. Professional cleaning and polishing restore its original shine and brilliance.

Ring Resizing & Band Restoration

Gold, platinum, and silver rings can become thin or bent after years of wear. We can resize and reinforce bands to make them comfortable and durable once again.

Clasp & Chain Repairs

Necklaces and bracelets often suffer from broken clasps or weakened chains. We repair and replace clasps, ensuring your jewellery is secure and wearable.

Re-Plating & Rhodium Plating

White gold jewellery can lose its bright finish over time. Rhodium plating restores its lustrous white sheen, while gold plating can revive the warmth of yellow or rose gold pieces.
